The administrator can create unlimited user accounts and allow everyone to have their own personal account. Users access their accounts using a web browser over the LAN. Multiple users can share a computer for email communication but each user will have their own personal and private storage.

UebiMiau (Webi Miaow) is an universal webmail developed in PHP that can be installed on any e-mail server. It supports both POP3 and IMAP servers and provides advanced features such as a Chat room accessible by all the users having an account on the mail server.

The recurring archiving task is scheduled up to 5 archives (by default) are kept by the Backup/Restore script. When the maximum number of archives is reached, the oldest archive will be deleted unless you decide yourself to free some place by deleting one of the archives. The name of the archive tell about it content (xmail for XMail data, pop for UebiMiau database) and creation date.

Using DDNS, the server can be configured to be accessed from outside via the Internet by registering a free DDNS account. Currently most ISPs will block emails sent using DDNS unless ARPA registration for Reverse DNS is done. It is recommended to use static IP when setting up your Email Server.

The NAS is shipped with 2 units of 500Gb hard disk for non-stop service and easy maintenance. If one disk fails, the server remains fully functional. When data crash occurs, the administrator can be alerted by e-mail alarm and LED indicators. The failed drive can be replaced by hot swap without turning off the NAS. Intelligent data rebuilding will recreate the RAID1 with without any system downtime.

The server capacity can be increased by replacing the hard drives with larger ones. All the data will be kept and seamlessly moved to the newly installed hard drives. There is no need to turn off the server during the process.




The NAS also supports Hard Disk Drive S.M.A.R.T which enables administrators to monitor the status of hard disk drive and check the potential problems. This tool helps to prevent the unexpected failure of hard disk and avoid critical data loss. Comprehensive Event Log System for all network services accessed by online users are all recorded. Server managers can monitor the status of the NAS closely.
